Police and Crime Commissioner statement following the arson attacks in Leeds (6 June 2018)

Following the arson attacks on the places of worship in Leeds on 5 June, which are being treated as hate crimes, Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, said: "These despicable and reckless attacks will not be tolerated.

"West Yorkshire Police are treating these incidents extremely seriously and are carrying out extensive enquiries, as well as increasing high visibility patrols in the area. I have been receiving regular updates on the investigation and I am following progress keenly.

"I would reiterate the appeal from West Yorkshire Police, if anyone does have any information on these incidents please contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting crime reference 1318270739 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"The response from the affected communities in coming together has been fitting, we will continue to stand together against hate."
