West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Called on Home Secretary to Stop Unfair Cuts to Policing (4 Dec 2012)

Mark Burns-Williamson, Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, met with the Home Secretary yesterday to argue against unfair cuts to policing.

The message from police and crime commissioners across the country was clear. They called on Theresa May to think again about the deep and damaging cuts being made by the Government to policing and argued the need to bat harder for the police service, including in West Yorkshire, over the level of the cuts.

Theresa May told police and crime commissioners that she had heard the message loud and clear.

The Autumn statement, due on Wednesday, will prove whether David Cameron and George Osborne are prepared to listen to the people of West Yorkshire and increase resources for policing in our communities.
