Book a visit to Carr Gate Specialist Training Facility (9 Aug 2013)

Interserve Construction is currently on site building the new Operational & Training Facility for West Yorkshire Police.

The proposed development comprises of the following:

* 3No Indoor Firing Ranges, 1No 100m and 2No 50m long, each with 'state of the art' CGI technology target systems and fitted out Armoury.
* Live Fire Skills House and external public order training houses.
* 12.5m high Abseiling Tower.
* Large span public order training building which accommodates full scale realistic street scenes, houses, stadia seating and roadways.
* 15,000 sq m Driver training skid pan.
* Training Hub building with 3No gyms, classrooms and dining facilities.
* Security Gatehouse.

This will compliment the existing facility which accommodates stables and a paddock for police horses, along with dog kennels, firearms training and Helicopter.

Works are due to complete in February 2014, and therefore all areas are well progressed and nearing completion, emphasising the true scale of the scheme.

The objective was to ensure the massing of the large training buildings do not dominate the surrounding landscape. This was achieved by compact designs sited in good locations relative to site contours.

Each building is steel framed with a focus on Cedar timber cladding to integrate into the landscape.

The site visit will consist of a tour of the facilities then an informal discussion about the project.  Visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions about the project and careers in the construction industry.

The site will be in its latter fit-out stages. We would hope to show visitors a 100m fire range, 250m long driver training area, Public Order Training Village & the Hub Gym & training suites.

Some PPE will be provided, but sensible & robust closed in shoes must be worn.
