Statement on separate incidents in Wakefield over the weekend which saw two officers injured in the line of duty (2 Sept 2014)

Speaking on the separate incidents in Wakefield over the weekend which saw two officers injured in the line of duty Mark Burns-Williamson, the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire said "My primary concern is the welfare of the injured officers and I wish them both a speedy recovery. Thankfully incidents such as this are rare but this does not excuse the completely unacceptable nature of these attacks which pale in comparison to the bravery shown by the officers.

We all must recognise the courage and selflessness demonstrated by officers and staff every single day to ensure the safety of the public. I want to thank all of them for their dedication and commitment in keeping our communities safe and feeling safe."
