Online consultation on the new Police and Crime Plan enters its final week (15 Jul 2016)

Kirklees - Greenhead ParkFollowing his re-election, West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Mark Burns-Williamson launched a consultation to find out about what matters to people across West Yorkshire and to reflect their priorities in the new Police and Crime Plan 2016-21.

The "Your Priorities, Your Plan" consultation involves an online and paper survey on your priorities, and has also seen Mark spending time in each of the districts in West Yorkshire consulting with local people, partners and the police.

These priorities will be reflected in the new Police and Crime Plan later this year that will set the direction for policing and community safety over the next five years.

Mark spent days in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield and held meetings in community centres and public places to speak to local people, partners and the police as well as visiting charity, partner and volunteer projects.

Bradford KN ConfThe online and paper survey element of the consultation will close for responses on Friday 22 July but Mark will continue to consult with communities and partners after this.

Mark Burns-Williamson said "We've had a terrific response to this consultation so far with over 4000 people completing the survey. It's a real sign of just how important having a say on these issues is to our communities.

"I am accountable to the public and a part of my role is to be their voice, so the fact that so many people are taking some time to tell me what matters to them is crucial.

"I would appreciate anyone sparing some time to fill in the survey and encourage family, friends and colleagues to do the same. The more I hear from people the more I can understand what needs to be considered."

A live web chat will also take place on Monday 18 July where anyone with internet access can visit the website and ask Mark questions or tell him about their policing priorities. Questions and comments can be submitted anonymously and you do not need to register. Visit www.westyorkshire-pcc.gov.uk/news-events/web-chats.aspx to find out more and to set an email reminder.
