Extraordinary Hate Crime Grant

Victims of Hate Crime: Extraordinary Grant Round

Mark Burns-Williamson launched an extraordinary grant round to support his commitments to and delivery of hate crime.

The one off grant was available from the Victim Support Services Fund held by the Police and Crime Commissioner and was specifically for organisations or individuals to support victims of hate crime.

Applications for funding were taken in late 2015 resulting in 12 successful projects sharing £112,732.50.

The grant was extremely popular with 49 bids being received totalling more than £511,000.

Successful applicants demonstrated the outcome in the Police and Crime Plan that all victims and witnesses are supported across West Yorkshire. Examples of funded projects include smart phone apps for reporting hate crime and providing help and advice, improving reporting via hate crime reporting centres and research.
